Costumer Critiques

AUDIO UPDATE Audio is supported on 2010 MacBook Pro and iMac 27" / 21.5" ::: This adapter is totally compatible for AUDIO on the most up-to-date MacBook Pro (i5/i7 and 13" and so on)) and also the iMac 27 and 21.5" models now that Apple have audio out enabled more than Mini DisplayPort... upcoming Apple models from 2010 on should also have Audio assistance. So extended as the Apple mac or Mini DisplayPort output supports audio then so will this adapter and it will be sent more than the single HDMI cable.

Please note that earlier Apple Macs with Mini DisplayPort (2008 - 2009 models) do not transmit audio over the Mini DP. If in doubt please check the specs of your Mac or get in touch with Neet Cables for rapidly and friendly client assistance.

Critical NOTE :: " Mini DisplayPort " is NOT the exact same as " Mini DVI " ! :::: Its is really widespread for folks to purchase the incorrect adapter and need to have to return or exchange despite the warnings in the item information above (I guess folks read critiques alot more than item information) ... so if you are not sure which Mac port you have, please read the following information as it may well support !

As it says in the item description ::: This "Mini DisplayPort" adapter is put to use to " Connect new generation Apple MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air with Mini Displayport " . This is for newer generation Macs from late 2008 onwards such as the UNIBODY MacBook and MacBook Pro and AIR ... also the newer iMacs.

Most slightly older Macs (Which includes MacBook, MacBook Pro and Air ... UP TO late 2008) have a distinct, slightly larger but similar searching port called " Mini DVI " and this is NOT the similar as " Mini DisplayPort " ... and will not fit.

You can see a close up picture of the actual ports and adapter connection in the 'other' images at the leading of the product listing and this will support you check to see if your port matches :::: If you have an older Mac and require the Neet " Mini DVI to HDMI adapter " it can be located here :: Apple Mini DVI to HDMI adapter cable by Neet®

There are also a couple of other, much less normal adapters that Apple applied briefly... one is named "Mini VGA" (located on older Macs) and a further is referred to as " Micro DVI " (found on the MacBook Air for one particular year only) ... these are far much less normal but still get confused. ( Even Apple can give the wrong advise (eg: telling consumers that Mini VGA is Mini DVI but an older version so folks go seeking for an older Mini DVI which does not exist ))

The bottom line is to be positive and check your port prior to shopping for ... and if in any doubt, please contact Neet Cables by way of ' contact seller ' on Amazon and we will be alot more than content to aid.

This Neet Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter is plug play, functions pretty nicely and will be dispatched rapidly with quickly and friendly e-mail client support from Neet if required ... but please check that you are obtaining the correct adapter to begin with !

( Please kindly note ::: I operate on client help at Neet Cables and AMAZON recommended that this data be left as a 'review' due to excessive returns / exchanges as a outcome of people buying the incorrect adapter. This outcomes in frustration and wasted time waiting for exchanges for customers and also a lot of wasted postage costs for us and Amazon ... so hopefully this 'review' and info will assist save a lot of time and wasted postage fees for us all ! ... If you believe it is helpful , please mark it as ' valuable ' so it stays at the best and will be observed by anybody browsing... numerous thanks :)

This critique is to help anybody who, like me, is new to the wide selection of cables and ways of linking up electronic gear. I wanted to connect a 2 Core Duo iMac to a Sony Bravia Tv in order to stream films from LoveFilm or watch programmes using the BBC's iPlayer. Beneath I describe how, with the assist of NEET technical services I managed to achieve my goal.

(1) I plugged in the Mini Display Port to HDMI Adaptor into the iMac attached an HDMI cable and plugged the other finish into an HDMI socket on the Sony Television, but could only get the background screen of the Television and not something playing: solved this by going into the iMac's Program Preferences and opening Displays and turning on Screen mirroring. This got me what was playing on the screen, but not the sound.

(two) I tried plugging in an audio cable into the iMac's headphone socket. That didn't operate. I then thought that I needed the extra pricey Mini Display Port to HDMI Adaptor Mini DisplayPort + TOSLINK Digital Audio to HDMI (v1.3b) adapter cable by Neet® - ( for Unibody MacBook - Pro - iMac and so on. ), but 1st contacted NEET technical services on-line. They had been rather helpful and checked the manufacturing date of my iMac. Apparently those created prior to April 2010 require the even more highly-priced adaptor, but mine fell into the significantly more latest batch and must work with the one particular I am reviewing. Neet tipped me off that I needed to enable the adaptor before the audio portion would operate. So I went into the iMac's System Preferences and opened Sound and hey presto 'Sony Television" was listed. Note, though, you have to have the Adaptor and HDMI cable plugged in at both ends and the Tv on.

Thank you NEET technical services!
