    Costumer Critiques

I in no way intended purchasing this television, but perusing via Currys I saw one on display and the "wow" element bit me. It replaced my 42" Panasonic - which I believed was brilliant to begin with - following I sold it to fund the acquire of this set.

So, down to the particulars. The set is extremely thin at just 55mm but unbeliveably I do not believe can be wall mounted - so if this is very important to you then investigate extra prior to you acquire. The "razor frame" adds to the overall sleekness of the appear of the set. It can swivel around 30 degress left or correct when the stand has been affixed. There are a number of completely different picture modes which includes vivid, typical, sport and THX Cinema and there is a wealth of connectivity alternatives including 4 HDMI ports, a USB port for watching from either a flash drive or externally powered external challenging drive, wifi connectivity, DLNA compatibilty and a built in DivX player. You can also challenging wire the set to your network applying the ethernet connection. If there are any youngsters in your household the set even has eight built in (standard) games which can be played applying the remote handset.

Image and SOUND....... I've had Sky HD, am currently on Virgin and with the built-in Freeview HD receiver in this set, have seen all the available alternatives in my personal property. Freeview HD is easily on a par with each Sky and Virgin, and the only disadvantage it suffers is the existing lack of HD channels offered. Right after auto-tuning, the set had just three HD channels to show - BBC, ITV and Channel four. As Freeview HD is nevertheless in its infancy this is hardly a criticism as undoubtedly even more HD channels will turn out to be readily accessible as the year goes on. The HD image on this set is the reason for the aforementioned "wow" element. It is basically spectacular and for whatever reason (possibly the 600hz scanning ?) - the HD image on some occasions has a 3D feel to it that I've by no means noticed ahead of (from a none 3D set)....... Each and every of the image modes can be fine tuned to your personal personal preferance, from colour, tint, brightness, contrast, etc, so you'll swiftly accomplish your "great" picture. The sound whilst getting acceptable, isn't as brilliant as the image and I can only say it's ok for day to day viewing, but if you are going to purchase a set of this calibre then you'll either have (or will need) a half decent AV amp and speaker system with which to expertise the complete THX approved capabilities of this marvellous piece of gear....! The set again astounds when a blu-ray is played back and I assume it is right here it goes head and shoulders above the competitors. Like a earlier reviewer, I too watched sections of Avatar to test the set, and utilizing the THX set up assitant built into the set, the finish result was incredible pretty much like discovering the property cinema surround sound experience for the highly very first time.....

My only other 'negative' comment about this set is that it's HD efficiency actually is so outstanding that when you switch back to normal definition it really is like getting to travel economic climate class when you've grow to be accustomed to sitting in 1st class - a bit of a come down. Until Freeview HD has a larger choice of HD channels available you will require to subscribe to either Sky or Virgin to enjoy this set to its full potential.

MY CONCLUSION - and sorry if I am gushing in my enthusiasm - is purchase this set with no hesitation. If you have got the revenue and the space then go for the 60" version, but whatever your option, you're finding one the perfect equipped plasma screens obtainable in terms of connectivity and features, and as for the HD picture excellent - I'll doubt it can be bettered.

My prior tv was a 42" LCD and was 3 years old. I was highly pleased with that set as the colours were beneficial and the picture quite clear but the downside was that the edges of moving images would break up. It was a 720 HD prepared set and as I was thinking of trying out HD programs I decided to purchase the LG 50PK590. This set is a full 1080 HD giving a substantially far better image than a 720 HD prepared set. Although I subscribe to cable television and have a HD cable tuner I decided to purchase this LG model due to the fact it has an inbult HD tuner thus able to get HD freeview applications with no a cable HD tuner. I acquire that the plasma screen is not as vibrant as the LCD screen so for the duration of the day the picture tends to be a little bit pale as the screen tends to reflex light from windows etc. but its ok when the area is darkened and then the picture is rather beneficial and clear. The edges of moving images do not break up as did with the LCD set and when th HD is used the image is excellent.
